Research Fellow - Graph Theory
Monash University

School of Mathematical Sciences

Closing date: 22nd April 2019

The School of Mathematical Sciences at Monash University invites applicants for the position of Postdoctoral Research Fellow to work on a project in extremal and structural graph theory.

The Fellow will conduct research within the Discrete Mathematics Research Group of Monash University, under the guidance of Professor David Wood. This group is the leading centre for research in discrete and combinatorial mathematics in Australia, with a particular strength in graph theory; see for details. Faculty include David Wood, Nick Wormald, Ian Wanless, and Daniel Horsley. In addition to work on the project, there will also be opportunities for the Fellow to collaborate with others in the School of Mathematical Sciences at Monash and pursue their own independent research programme.

Applicants must have (or be on the verge of completing) a PhD in a relevant discipline, proven ability to perform collaborative research, and experience of publishing in high-quality journals. Specific areas of expertise should include graph minor theory, extremal graph theory, and/or the probabilistic method.

This role is a two year full-time position, with the possibility of further extension. Flexible working arrangements may be negotiated.

Applications must be made via the Monash website and must address the selection criteria outlined in the position description.
