Members may recall that in the early 1980s, a logo for the Australian Mathematical Society was produced. It was a stylized map of Australia with the letters AMS superimposed. Although this was adopted at the time, it has become apparent the AMS is known throughout the world as the American Mathematical Society : so the logo has fallen in favour and is no longer used. Thus, the Society needs another logo.
Designers should note that our favoured acronym is Aust MS .
