Below is a list of forthcoming conferences which will be held in Australia, New Zealand and other countries in the region.
The information in this section is complemented by similar information in the IMU Canberra Circular , where detailed information on international conferences may also be found. If you wish to be on the distribution list for the Circular write to Emeritus Professor B.~H.~Neumann, Mathematics Research Section, School of Mathematical Sciences, Australian National University, GPO Box 4, Canberra, ACT 0200 (email: bhn102@phys.anu.edu.au). The Circular is sent free of charge to those who ask for it. Further information regarding the conferences below may be obtained from the contact, indicated by C .
This conference aims at bringing together interested parties from academia, industry and research and development organisations to promote interaction and discussion of issues associated with the teaching and applications of engineering mathematics.
The Technical Organising Committee welcomes contributions on the following issues.
Contributions on successful case studies from education and industrial applications such as the application of simple and elegant mathematical solutions to industrial problems and the impact of these solutions on other engineering and financial considerations are especially encouraged.
The conference will feature two special addresses: The Principles of the Accreditation of Engineering Mathematics Courses
and The Applications of Mathematics in the Steel Industry.
Other prominent international speakers will also present keynote addresses.
Educators, engineers, mathematicians and researchers from academia, industry and government organisations interested in mathematical education of engineers and the applications of mathematics to engineering disciplines will find this conference particularly stimulating, interesting and beneficial to their professional development.
Intending conference participants (wishing to present a paper or not) are invited to return the form below as soon as possible to expedite the sending of further information and planning. Intending authors should forward an abstract of approximatley 250 words before 31 October 1995 to
All abstracts and papers will be reviewed and refereed. Conference proceedings will also be published.
Executive Committee: Phil Broadbridge (The University of Wollongong) (Chairman), Peter May (The Institution of Engineers, Aust.), Angus Robinson (The Warren Centre for Advanced Engineering), Joseph Steiner (The Engineering Mathematics Group), Daniel Yuen (BHP Research).
