Applications are
invited for the Elizabeth and Vernon Puzey Postgraduate Research Scholarships
which honour the late Elizabeth and Vernon Puzey of Toorak.
The scholarships aim to "retain the services of well qualified
citizens of Australia from leaving Australia".
Two scholarships
are available in the Faculty of Science. The Faculty of Sciences comprises
Botany, Chemistry, Information Systems, Mathematics and Statistics,
Earth Sciences, Physics, Genetics, Zoology and Optometry & Vision
Sciences.
The value of each scholarship is $25,000 per annum and each is available
for postgraduate research students. Each scholarship is available for
up to four years, subject to the satisfactory progress of your research.
To be eligible for
either scholarship, you must be an Australian citizen currently residing
in Australia. Applicants are assessed on their academic performance
at undergraduate level and a high standard is expected.

outlining your preferred area of interest to: Associate Dean (Research
and Industry), Faculty of Science, Old Geology Building, The University
of Melbourne, Victoria 3010.
Awarding of these scholarships will be subject to an offer of a place
in a relevant postgraduate research program and the availability of
appropriate supervisors.
