Dryland Salinity Research
The Co-operative Research Centre (CRC)
The CRC for Plant-based
Management of Dryland Salinity is a joint venture of NSW Agriculture,
Charles Sturt University NSW, Dept. Natural Resources & Environment
Victoria, Dept. Prinary Industries & Resources South Australia,
University of Adelaide, Dept. Agriculture WA, Conservation & Land
Management WA, The University of Western Australia and CSIRO.
The CRC conducts
research into:
- the functioning
of natural ecosystems
- plant improvement
- land use systems
with balanced water use
- resource economics
and the social impacts of landscape change.
Disciplines include
plant ecology, plant genetics and improvement, plant physiology, agricultural
and resource economics, sociology, salt land agronomy, soil physics
and chemistry, water and nutrient cycling, computer modelling, geographic
information systems, farming systems etc.
The CRC invites
applicants interested in studying for the PhD degree in any of these
areas at any one of the three partner universities to apply.
Students will be
supervised jointly by university and industry supervisors.
Applicants must
be Australian citizens or permanent residents.
