of Tropical Convection
School of Mathematical Sciences
Monash University
The School of Mathematical Sciences at Monash University seeks
applicants for a 3 year PhD scholarship as part of the ARC
Discovery Project 'Organization and Prediction of Tropical
Convection'. The scholarship is at a rate of $24,650 per annum
(tax free).
The PhD candidate will work with Dr. Simon Clarke and Prof.
Michael Reeder on the nonlinear modelling of gravity waves leading
to organized tropical convection lines and the comparison with
observations. Candidates should have an strong honours degree in
Mathematics, Physics or Atmospheric Science. Good computational
skills, particularly a sound knowledge of Fortran 90, Matlab or
IDL, would be advantageous.
Inquiries and applications should be sent to Dr. Simon Clarke,
School of Mathematical Sciences, Monash University, Victoria 3800.
