PhD Scholarship in Organization and Prediction of Tropical Convection

The School of Mathematical Sciences at Monash University seeks applicants for a 3 year PhD scholarship as part of the ARC Discovery Project 'Organization and Prediction of Tropical Convection'. The scholarship is at a rate of $24,650 per annum (tax free).
 

The PhD candidate will work with Dr. Simon Clarke and Prof. Michael Reeder on the nonlinear modelling of gravity waves leading to organized tropical convection lines and the comparison with observations. Candidates should have an strong honours degree in Mathematics, Physics or Atmospheric Science. Good computational skills, particularly a sound knowledge of Fortran 90, Matlab or IDL, would be advantageous.
