Centre for Mathematics and its Applications,
Mathematical Sciences Institute
ANU
The Centre invites applications for PhD scholarships to work in
the Federation fellowship project "exploring the frontiers of
feasible computation" under the supervision of Richard Brent.
The aim of the project is to study problems that are close to
the boundary between feasible and infeasible, such as integer
factorization and discrete logarithm problems that are relevant to
public-key cryptography.
The successful applicants will be required to have an honours
degree in a related discipline. The scholarship, which must be
taken up by 1 March 2006, includes a tax-free stipend of $24,837
pa for 3 years (with a possible 6 month extension) and funding for
thesis production. Candidates should preferably be
Australian citizens or Australian permanent residents. However
international students may also apply.
Applicants should indicate that the application is for a
scholarship in MSI.
Applications close Wednesday 13 December 2005.
Apply now.
