Australian Bicentennial Scholarships & Fellowships
Objectives: The object of
the scheme is to promote scholarship, intellectual links, and
mutual awareness and understanding between the United Kingdom and
Australia, in particular,
- to enable United Kingdom graduates to
study in approved courses or undertake approved research in
Australia;
- to enable Australian graduates to
study in approved courses or undertake approved research in the
United Kingdom;
- to make allowance within the scheme for
disadvantaged persons.
Eligibility: An applicant
for a Scholarships must:
- Be enrolled as a postgraduate student at
an Australian higher education institution or be eligible for
such registration at a United Kingdom higher education
institution;
- Be usually resident in Australia;
- Hold at least an upper second class
honours degree .
A detailed report on the
scholarship/fellowship is required within 3 months of returning to
Australia.
Stipend:
£4,000 and may be used to supplement other awards
Duration:
The successful applicant must spend at least 3 months studying in
the United Kingdom, and the award must be taken up within 12
months of receiving it, or forfeit the award.
