Our client, based in Edinburgh South

The Senior
Research Engineer / Team Leader role will see the successful
incumbent involved in research in a number of key areas that may
include: research and development in network design, wireless
communications, network analysis, network management, intrusion
detection, computer forensics, high assurance security devices,
artificial intelligence for security critical systems, information
network survivability, and high assurance computer based safety
critical systems.
As a result of growth we seek an
experienced Senior Research Engineer / Team Leader to undertake the
following key responsibilities:

Research Leadership -
guide, motivate and inspire R&D staff to achieve the vision
-
Under limited
direction, personally contribute to research in one or more of the
areas mentioned above.

Initiate and direct
the development of key Information Security technologies.
-
Provide professional
advice on Information Security technologies, as required.
-
Utilise people and
resources effectively to produce agreed science and technology
outcomes.
-
Project Management of
scientific and engineering development tasks.
-
Supervise and mentor
junior professional staff.
To
fulfil the Senior Research Engineer role we are seeking specialised
candidates with the following experience:
-
1st class honours in
Electrical Engineering or Computer Science (essential). Masters (by
research) or PhD qualification would be an advantage
-
Proven ability to
manage, lead and progress multi-person scientific and engineering
projects of significant technological breadth
-
Proven ability to
apply scientific and engineering principles and concepts, including
investigation, creativity and analysis to solving complex technical
problems.
-
A sound understanding
of information security principles
-
Demonstrated ability
to supervise staff
-
Ability to meet time
scales and objectives and ability to apply R & D to corporate goals
and objectives.
-
High levels of
initiative and motivation.
-
Demonstrated ability
and experience in at least two of the following areas:
-
Operating systems
-
Computer network
protocols
-
Computer security
application development and system integration
-
Embedded operating
system and security application development
-
Security aspects of
appliance computing and mobile telephony
-
Experience with
leading software development in small to medium teams, including using
the C language, and with modern object-oriented languages
