The Centre for
Population and Urban Research is an independent research unit that prepares
reports for a number of Commonwealth, State and Local Government departments
as well as for private sector agencies. It also publishes the journal,
People and Place.
The Centre's concern
is to better understand the social and economic well being of Australians
as described by indicators of their employment, education level, income,
welfare benefit dependency, family status and related characteristics.
Regional/metropolitan and within metropolitan differences on these dimensions
are a particular focus.
A feature of the
Centre's work is the procurement of a diverse range of databases and
the
construction of indicators of well being of diverse communities across
Australia.
Applicants should
have extensive experience in management and preparation of large complex
electronic databases; detailed knowledge of relevant databases with
a focus on Australian Bureau of Statistics data, particularly those
that provided in electronic format including on-line data, CDATA and
customised tables; highly developed writing abilities, and desktop publication
skills. Knowledge of academic publishing requirements and administrative
experience in a university environment would be an advantage.

- $62,797 p.a. Level B
