The School of Mathematics
at UNSW is seeking to appoint a Research Associate as a result of a
recent grant from the Australian Research Council (ARC) to Professor
Michael Cowling. The successful applicant will work on the project "lwasaw
N groups", carrying out research in the area of the project as
directed.
UNSW is one of Australia's
leading universities. The School of Mathematics at UNSW is comprised
of the Departments of Applied and Pure Mathematics, and the Department
of Statistics. It has an outstanding record in attracting external research
support and operates an extensive international visitor program for
research collaboration. The School has excellent computing facilities.
The School encourages Research Associates to do a limited amount of
teaching.
Essential Criteria:
A PhD or equivalent in a relevant area of mathematics; a record in research;
good communication skills; knowledge of mathematical text processing
using TeX or LaTeX; an understanding of equity and diversity principles.
Desirable criteria:
published research in the areas of harmonic analysis; analysis on manifolds,
or partial differential equations and operator theory; knowledge of
symbolic computing.
The salary range
for Research Associate is $47,096 - $50,554 per year depending on qualifications
and experience.
This is a fixed
term position for one year with excellent prospects of renewal.
