The Department of Mathematics at Arizona State University invites applications for three, non-tenure-track, visiting positions at the Assistant Professor level, renewable annually up to a total of three years, beginning in the 2001-2002 academic year commencing August 2001.

All candidates are required to have received a Ph.D. in mathematics, statistics, or a closely related area, and have received their doctorate within three years of the start of the appointment. Candidates must have demonstrated potential for excellence in teaching at the undergraduate level (teaching loads consist of two courses per semester, 6-8 hours per week) and evidence of quality research in an area that complements current research strengths of the department. Desired Evidence of quality research in one or more of the following: i) mathematical biology, ii) discrete/combinatorial mathematics, iii) analysis, iv) algebra/number theory, v) dynamical systems, vi) control theory, and vii) applied and computational mathematics - in particular, one position is targeted for a candidate with experience in numerically solving hyperbolic partial differential equations.
