CSIRO Postgraduate Scholarships

CSIRO has established a new program to support research training in Australian universities, through award of supplementary PhD scholarships for students holding Australian Postgraduate Awards or equivalent University scholarships.

CSIRO recognises that we need to link with Australian Universities to ensure that we have emerging talent in areas critical to Australia's future success. The aim is to provide enhanced opportunities in science and engineering for up to 50 recent outstanding graduates enrolling at Australian tertiary institutions across the country as full-time students for research leading to the award of a Doctor of Philosophy degree.

We are looking to support PhD projects in areas that are fundamental to the work of CSIRO's Divisions, and in particular where that work links across Divisions, or between CSIRO and university research teams, and will help set the agenda for CSIRO and Australia's future R&D requirements. Our emphasis is on bringing teams together from different scientific fields to find solutions to major problems facing Australia.

While projects are welcomed in all areas of CSIRO's research activities, emphasis will be placed on projects focused on the strategic research priorities of CSIRO Divisions, and on the more general emerging science priorities defined by CSIRO which are being addressed through multi-divisional teams.

For information on these scholarships, the research projects available and details on how to apply please visit our website at: http://www.csiro.au/phd

Closing date 31 October 2002
