The appointee will work on projects in Computational Statistics and related topics. These projects are concerned with developing new theoretical, computational and statistical methods and algorithms with particular relevance to applications in Nuclear Medcine and Computer Vision. The Computational Statistics Research Group is identified by Macquarie University as a Centre of research specialisation.

The appointee is also expected to contribute to development and teaching within the Department's programs in information systems and technology, though this will not involve a heavy teaching load.

Applicants must have received or be about to receive a PhD in an area related to Computational Statistics. Applicants must have a knowledge of C programming, UNIX systems and Matlab. Preference will be given to applicants with a statistics background but applicants with a physics or electrical engineering background are encouraged to apply.

Up to two appointments will be made. Each position is available for an initial period of one year from February 2003 subject to funding. Secondments will be considered.

Salary Range: Level A (Associate Lecturer) $43,141 - $58,351 pa including leave loading and superannuation.
