We are seeking to appoint a Post Doctoral Fellow to work as part of the CSIRO AVHRR Time Series (CATS) project. This project is undertaking research and development using a parallel computing cluster to produce a 20-year satellite record of the Australian region using the Advanced Very High Resolution Radiometer instrument.

The successful candidate will participate in the development of a distributed computing system to store and process satellite imagery to generate a variety of higher-level products. A key component will be the development of a web-based delivery system. The fellowship will be based with the Earth Observation Centre on the CSIRO Black Mountain site.

To undertake this fellowship you will require a recent PhD in environmental science, mathematics, physics, mathematical statistics, software engineering or an equivalent qualification. A demonstrated ability to develop scientific software, together with experience with either web development or relational databases is essential.
