Classification: Research Fellow Grade 1, Level A

Employment Type: This is a full-time (fixed-term) position available for 3 years.

This position is within the Machine Learning and Data Mining group, with sponsorship from the Australian Research Council. Under the supervision of Dr Chris Leckie, and in collaboration with Professor James Bezdek , the appointee will work on the design, implementation and testing of clustering techniques for large relational data sets. In particular, the appointee will work on computationally efficient methods for clustering, which will involve the use of statistical sampling techniques to select representative samples for clustering, as well as extension techniques to extend the results of clustering to remainder of the data set.

Applications are invited from those with research interests in data mining and clustering techniques. Expertise in clustering techniques and a strong mathematical background are highly desirable.
