Applications are
invited for a mathematician to join the Department of Mathematics in
the School of Mathematical Sciences. Excellence in mathematical research,
and good teaching and communications skills, are major criteria. Applicants
should be able to teach courses in a wide range of areas as well as
in his/her own area of specialisation, and be prepared to contribute
actively to the development of mathematics and its linkages with other
areas and to its promotion within the ANU and the broader community.
Applicants'
research should contribute to strengthening one of the three mathematics
research programs of the School (Algebra, Analysis and Geometry, Applied
and Nonlinear Analysis).
The successful candidate
will initially have a partial secondment to the Centre for Mathematics
and its Applications (CMA), the research only component of the School
of Mathematical Sciences. The CMA is primarily a research institute
in the mathematical sciences; as such it fills both a national and international
role.
The successful
applicant will be offered a standard teaching and research appointment
in the Department of Mathematics with an initial partial secondment
to the CMA.
