The Clinical Trials Centre has a team of nine biostatisticians, and the successful applicant would be expected to contribute to the overall research effort of this group as well as the broader research interests of the Centre.

Involvement and development of new teaching courses both via distant and face-to-face will be expected and opportunities will also exist for teaching in the University’s graduate medical program and other post graduate courses (Masters of Public Health, Master of Clinical Epidemiology).

The successful applicant will be expected to have a thorough understanding of clinical trials methodology, and experience in biostatistical analysis/research in a number of clinical areas. It would be highly desirable to possess experience in cardiovascular research.

Essential criteria:

• Solid knowledge/expertise in clinical trials methods including experience in randomisation and statistical management of clinical trials.
• Methodological aspects of systematic reviews and meta-analysis, and biostatistical methods in general.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with proven leadership ability to direct small teams of researchers, and to liaise with potential clients from university and industry.
• Superior analytical, conceptual and problem solving skills to identify problems, and coordinate the implementation of appropriate solutions to instigate continuous improvement.

Desirable criteria:

• Demonstrated ability to conduct research in biostatistics, promoting biostatistical consulting.
• Knowledge of a range of statistical packages is also desirable.

The position is full-time fixed term for 12 months initially, subject to the completion of a satisfactory probation period for new appointees. There is the possibility of further offers of employment subject to funding and need.

Remuneration Package: up to $83,721 - $96,402 p.a. (which includes a base salary Senior Lecturer Level C $70,806 - $81,644 p.a., leave loading and up to 17% employer’s contribution to superannuation).
