$60,304 - $71,050 per annum. (This is inclusive of a superable UNSW
academic loading of $3,000 per annum)
Applications are
invited from suitably qualified people for the position of Lecturer
Level B in the field of Oceanography. The School is one of five at University
College of the University of New South Wales. The successful applicant
will be expected to contribute to the teaching programs in Oceanography
and supervision of Honours and Postgraduate students. The teaching program
concentrates on physical oceanography but includes some aspects of geology,
biology and chemistry.
The successful
candidate will also be expected to contribute to the Schools research
program. The School has a strong research profile in physical oceanography
with facilities to support field projects and computationally intensive
modelling. Current research projects in oceanography include nearshore
and coral reef hydrodynamics, circulation and sediment transport in
coastal seas, coupled ecological and hydrodynamic modelling of estuaries,
lagoons and the continental shelf. Further details about the teaching

The successful
applicant is expected to have a PhD in physical oceanography or a closely
related field, or equivalent experience; a demonstrated record of high
quality research in oceanography; and the ability and willingness to
contribute to the teaching program. Previous university teaching experience
would be an advantage. A knowledge and understanding of equity and diversity
and OH&S procedures and practices is essential.
Membership of an
approved University superannuation scheme is a condition of employment.
