Applications are invited from mathematicians for a joint appointment in the Department of Mathematics and the Centre for Bioinformation Science. The position will be filled at either Level B or Level C. The Centre for Bioinformation Science is a new venture of the School of Mathematical Sciences (SMS) and the John Curtin School of Medical Research (JCSMR).

Excellence in mathematical research, good teaching and communications skills, and a commitment to contribute actively to the development of bioinformatics and to its promotion within the ANU and the broader community, are major criteria. The successful candidate will be expected to participate in the development of an undergraduate mathematics course with applications to bioinformatics, to promote the connections of mathematics and bioinformatics to undergraduate students, and to work with other members of the Centre for Bioinformation Science.

The University interprets Bioinformation Science widely, to include the development and application of mathematical, statistical and computational techniques to the analysis of genomicand related data. If the successful candidate does not have an established record of research in bioinformatics, there must be evidence of interest in the area and a commitment to the development and/or application of mathematical or computational techniques to bioinformatics.

The successful applicant will be offered a standard position; it will be a joint appointment to the Department of Mathematics, SMS, and the Centre for Bioinformation Science, JCSMR.
