Experience a rewarding career as technical officer - Observer

Look forward to participating in an intensive 10 month training program in Melbourne, then working in one of our many meteorological offices located across Australia, using a range of instrumentation and electronic equipment, radars and computers to collect, monitor and record a range of meteorological data.

We’ll give you a salary of $41,820 whilst you’re training, an advance in salary when you finish your training and, if you’re from interstate, you’ll also be eligible for comprehensive relocation assistance.

You can earn great shift work penalties and some of our assignments even have housing assistance. We have great locations of work across Australia, as well as some interesting remote locations including Willis Island and the Antarctic for temporary assignments.

To apply, you need a diploma, or higher, in a physical science with some maths. Some additional IT studies would be a plus, as would an aptitude for electronics or engineering. Graduates due to complete their studies during 2010 are welcome to apply.

We offer a stimulating and innovative training environment and you’ll join a great team people who love what they do. Don’t miss this chance to join the Bureau and make the most of your career. Training starts in Melbourne in March 2011.

Applicants must be an Australian citizen or have Permanent Resident status.
