Analysts
(Research Officer Grade 1)

Canberra based
The
Intelligence Analyst Program starts with three work placements and a
series of courses over a period of twelve months during which you can
build the foundations for a career in Signals Intelligence. These placements
and courses are designed to provide experience in a variety of disciplines.
You may be involved in:
- Analysis of foreign
signals,
- Preparing short
& long term reports on collected information,
- Analysing communications
systems,
- Translating foreign
language material, or
- Solving cryptological
problems using advanced mathematical concepts.
You will receive
comprehensive, specialised training to develop the technical capabilities
that allow you to work in multi-disciplinary teams to solve problems
that others cannot solve. You will undertake sophisticated analysis,
producing vital intelligence and security information for the Australian
Government.
DSD is seeking
graduates and final year students with strong academic records in a
diverse range of disciplines, with particular emphasis on the following:
- Arts and Science
disciplines with a strong analytic component (eg science, psychology,
geography, linguistics)
- Maths, statistics
or physics
- Asian studies
with a strong cultural and language component
Employment Specifications
Salary: Commences at $38508, depending on qualifications and/or experience.

DSD has two starting
times for its graduate program in 2003/4. For those who have already
graduated, or will be eligible to graduate by mid year, there will be
an intake in early November 2003. For those completing studies by the
end of the year, the next intake will be in February 2004.

note that if selected for interview you will be required to provide
evidence of your academic record to date.
