ASIS' specialist
role demands the highest levels of dedication and professionalism on
the part of its staff. These demands are reflected in the organisation's
rigorous Intelligence Officer recruitment process, which includes a
number of interviews, individual and group based testing, a medical
and a security assessment.
ASIS seeks highly
motivated individuals who can demonstrate strong conceptual, analytical
and communication skills. They will possess initiative, adaptability
and flexibility and be able to interact effectively with those from
varying cultures and backgrounds. Overseas in-country experience and
foreign language skills may be an advantage.
Candidates must
be graduates with a minimum three-year tertiary degree from one of a
wide range of disciplines, including but not limited to arts, science,
engineering, law, IT and economics. Candidates may be recent graduates
or they may have work experience in any number of fields - as diverse
as business, telecommunications and IT, the law, public service, and
the military.
High standards
of professionalism are supported through comprehensive training and
development programs.
You must be an Australian
citizen by birth or by granting of citizenship.
Successful applicants
will be informed in May 2003 and required to take up duty in Canberra
in July 2002. Appointment will be subject to satisfactory security and
medical clearances. Extensive specialist training will be provided on
commencement.
Commencement salary
would usually be in the range of $41,220 - $43,361 pa plus government
superannuation.
