CSIRO Mathematics, Informatics and Statistics (CMIS) has an exciting research scientist position for a statistician with a broad interest in applied statistics and data analysis, as well as the development of new methods.
In this exciting role you will:
- Be a member of a highly successful team of applied statisticians working to address challenging problems in the services industry, deployment and monitoring of sensor networks, and the application of risk methodologies to complex processes
- Work on new statistical methodologies to deliver innovative solutions for the analysis of large complex datasets from the services industry. Specifically you will
- Conduct original research in the area of Bayesian statistics, data mining, spatial and spatio-temporal modelling for the analysis of large complex datasets
- Publish research findings in key international journals, and present findings at national and international conferences.
- Contribute to the effective functioning of a research team and help deliver upon CSIRO's organizational objectives
To be successful you will have:
- Demonstrable statistical knowledge, proficiency with the use of statistical packages and their environments
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability and experience in statistical research for solving complex statistical problems requiring substantial originality, creativity, innovation and efficient solutions.
- Research and/or work experience in spatial and temporal statistics and Bayesian methods. Knowledge of the statistical environment R or Splus and Knowledge of C and/or C++ programming will be highly desirable
