National Occupational Health and Safety Commission (NOHSC)

The National Occupational Health and Safety Commission (NOHSC) is currently located in Sydney and will be relocated to Canberra during the first half of 2001.

A number of vacancies have arisen as a result of the relocation and the NOHSC office is seeking to progressively fill the vacancies that will exist in the Canberra location. The date on which successful applicants will be required to take up duty can be negotiated.

NOHSC offers a challenging and stimulating work environment and aims to be recognised as a leading organisation in promoting learning and development amongst its staff. Whilst significant importance is placed on the development of skills in the field of occupational health and safety, excellent opportunities exist for the personal development of staff in a wide range of other areas.

We are seeking highly motivated people who are either experienced OHS practitioners or have a genuine interest in occupational health and safety for positions in classifications from APS 6 to Executive Level 2.

Interested applicants should have:

  • well developed oral and written communication skills;
  • good administrative and organisational skills;
  • some knowledge of or experience in project management skills;
  • demonstrated ability to work both independently and in a team environment; and
  • proven capacity to use initiative and to meet tight deadlines.

Skills or experience in the areas of OHS, statistical analysis, information management, project management support skills and management support for scientific or technical research will be highly regarded.
