Scientist (Plantation Data Analyst/Modeller)

Position No. NRE3338

You will be required to provide mensurational, biometrical, database and statisticalmodelling expertise to the Forest Science Centre's hardwood plantations research program.

The successful applicant will be required to demonstrate:

  • specialised knowledge of experimental design, mensuration, biometric analysis, and growth and yield prediction and modelling methodologies relevant to plantations and farm-forests;
  • an ability to use advanced database, biometrical, modelling and geospatial software packages (e.g. Access, Genstat, ArcView);
  • an ability to undertake field-based research projects;
  • an ability to prepare detailed reports and scientific papers integrating complex information from a variety of sources and effectively communicate with management and client groups; and
  • an ability to lead or participate in multi-disciplinary research teams.

Qualifications: a degree in science, forest science, agricultural science or natural resources science. Relevant post-graduate research qualifications are desirable.

The salary range for this position is $51,488 to $72,609. The location is initially negotiable but it may be relocated to Creswick.
