Quantitative Geneticist

Total remuneration package to $76,846 pa.

Review gaps in the knowledge and the precision of genetic parameters for sheep production. Undertake extensive analyses to estimate heritabilities and genetic correlations for wool, meat, reproduction and disease traits in sheep using mixed models statistical procedures.

The position is part of the Strategic Research Program of the Australian Sheep Industry Cooperative Research Centre, which is funded by the Commonwealth Government under it's Cooperative Research Centre Program.

Selection Critieria:

  • Degree in Agriculture, Science, Statistics or equivalent qualifications.
  • Experience in advanced statistics and quantitative genetic analysis.
  • Willingness to become proficient in mixed models analysis.
  • Demonstrated organisational skills and the ability to publish the results of scientific research.
  • Willingness to travel intra and interstate.
  • Current drivers licence.

Common selection criteria also apply.

This is a temporary position until 30 June 2005.
