Position No. 02/61

Total remuneration package to: $66,497.00 ($55,113.00-$61,006.00) Employer’s contribution to superannuation and annualised leave loading.

This position plays an important role in technical development of the Rural Fire Service GIS environment. The incumbent will develop GIS, support corporate knowledge of GIS techniques and technologies and continue to raise the profile of GIS in the RFS by deploying innovative and useful applications.

Selection Criteria

  • Bachelor degree in IT or Science disciplines specialising in Geomatics and Information Technologies with at least four years post-graduate experience or equivalent experience.
  • Demonstrated expertise with Information Systems especially Geographic Information Systems, Remote Sensing, statistical analysis software packages and relational databases.
  • Proficiency in developing relational DBMS. Extensive knowledge of MapInfo products including MapInfo Professional, EasiMaps, MapBasic and SpatialWare.
  • Knowledge of internet/GIS technologies including MapX, MapXtreme and MapXMobile.
  • Knowledge of ESRI GIS products.
  • Knowledge and demonstrated experience in VBA, MapBasic and Java. Knowledge of Unix and PC Operating Systems.
  • Well developed and demonstrable spatial analysis skills including fire modeling.
  • Demonstrated ability to quickly master new computer applications and languages.
  • Knowledge and understanding of equal employment opportunity (EEO)
