Total remuneration
package valued up to $110,315 pa.
Responsible for
the conception, development, implementation and delivery of diverse,
but related projects, utilising data mining and associated statistical
analytical techniques. Development and application of data modeling
and in depth analysis of results, and managing complex projects with
tight deadlines. Lead and direct the overall operations of the Data
Mining Unit, including strategies to achieve outcomes that optimize
WorkCover's strategic and business imperatives. Develop specific models
that provide recommended courses of action. Provide expert advice to
the Executive, through the Strategy and Policy Executive Management
Committee, and staff at both the strategic and operational level.
Selection Criteria:
Demonstrated data mining expertise within leading data mining suites
(pref. SAS Enterprise Miner) with a sound understanding of the following
techniques: segmentation and clustering, neural networks, decision trees,
regression and link analysis. Advanced data preparation skills with
transactional and longitudinal data. Demonstrated knowledge of warehousing
concepts and architectural issues. Demonstrated experience in quality
management principles related to continuous improvement throughout a
project life-cycle. Proven ability to create, manage, lead and train
a team to deliver specific outcomes within agreed timeframes. Excellent
oral and written communication, interpersonal, consultation, conflict
resolution and project management/leadership skills. Demonstrated capacity
to liaise and negotiate effectively at all levels and establish and
maintain effective strategic alliances. Relevant industry experience
in advanced business intelligence, preferably gained in the finance,
banking, insurance or similar work environment Capacity to consult with
business domain experts to develop subjective decision support models.

Note: This position
will be relocating to Gosford in September 2002. Applicants with tertiary
qualifications, preferably at postgraduate level in applied statistics
or related quantitative field of study, should detail these in their
