Numerical Modeller

Salary to $62k plus Super

You will have a good understanding of computer numerical models used for physical transport processes in the environment and environmental fluid dynamics.

In this role you will:

  • have a good understanding of environmental processes and of concepts and assumptions underlying testing and validating environmental models;
  • provide expertise in modelling environmental process and making field measurements;
  • undertake numerical modelling of environmental processes such as dispersion in the atmosphere and the ocean, and gas and water movement in unsaturated soils and other geologic materials.

Significant experience in coordinating and interpreting numerical environmental transport models, and data collection and interpretation for model validation is a requirement.

You will have a B.Sc (Honours) with a major in applied mathematics or computational science meteorology.

The role will be offered for an initial three-year period, with the possibility of extension dependent upon operational requirements. The roles may require work at remote sites in Australia and overseas, sometimes in adverse conditions.
