Vacation
Employment
DSTO Melbourne
December 2002 - February 2003
Vacation employment
at DSTO is a genuine opportunity to make practical use of your
studies and work with world leaders in your field.
DSTO is offering paid
vacation employment for approximately 12 weeks from
December 2002 to February 2003 to students nearing completion of qualifications
in
various disciplines including mathematics.
Each vacation employment
student is allocated a discrete research project and presents his or
her findings in a written report and oral presentation. Each student
also receives an evaluation from his or her supervisor.
Vacation employment
students find their time at DSTO to be extremely valuable. In addition
to the technical experience gained, many comment on the unique working
environment offered by DSTO.
"DSTO is a
great place to work. The people are friendly and helpful and the atmosphere
is
very conducive to research work. It was an easy transition from a university
research
environment," said Joe Moniodis, an honours-graduate from Murdoch
University and
participant in DSTO's 2001-2002 vacation employment program.
"It's a great
experience. The scientific training I have received here will no doubt
be very
valuable in any future career."
Many vacation employment
students are later successful in obtaining permanent employment at DSTO.
All placements are
located at Fishermans Bend and Maribyrnong in Melbourne.
DSTO is looking
for candidates with highly competitive academic results and relevant
work experience. You will also need to demonstrate team skills and a
genuine interest in
a career in research and development.
