The
biometrics program of NSW Agriculture has a main role to provide consultancy
and training support to the research portfolio of NSW Agriculture. It
also provides statistical support for extension and regulatory services.
Staff of the program undertake applied statistical research of relevance
to NSW Agriculture. Our focus is on solving real applied statistical
problems and developing close working relationships with a wide range
of scientists. Some areas of interest include statistical computing,
mixed models, spatial analysis, quantitative genetics and bioinformatics.
The group also has strong links with several CRCs and collaborates with
other State Departments and Universities. With 20 statistics and computing
specialists and seven linked postgraduate research students, the biometrics
program of NSW Agriculture is one of the leading Australian groups in
its field. Staff are based at key centres of excellence or research
centres of NSW Agriculature.
Selection
criteria:
Degree in Science
with major in mathematical statistics or related discipline. Experience
with statistical packages. Demonstrated oral and written communication
skills. Ability to work in a team. Current driver's licence. Applicants
for positions AG No. 01/10/091 and 01/10/092 will require experience
in applied statistics and conulting in the biological sciences and demonstrated
supervisory skills.
