The Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) is Australia's official statistical agency. Our mission is to assist and encourage informed decision-making, research and discussion within governments and the community by providing a high-quality, objective and responsive national statistical service.

The successful applicant will be responsible for leading the Technology Infrastructure Branch within the Technical Services Division (TSD) and will be responsible for the effective development and execution of strategies leading to more effective use of technology within the ABS.

The successful applicant will be a highly motivated individual who:

• can think and act strategically;
• can represent the ABS effectively at a senior level;
• has good people skills coupled with a proven depth of IT skills;
• can demonstrate a good understanding of the business and purpose of the ABS;
• has a strong record of innovative achievement as a manager, especially the driving of organisational and technological change;
• can communicate clearly and effectively; and
• is able to contribute strongly to the overall management of the ABS.

The successful applicant may be engaged on a career basis or for a specified term of up to five years where this is mutually acceptable.

Employment will be subject to acceptance of an Australian Workplace Agreement with a negotiated salary from $94,134 per annum, employer contribution to superannuation, the use of a privately-plated motor vehicle, and generous leave and allowance provisions.
