You
will be responsible for providing professional support for mathematical
modelling of systems and phenomena relevant to airborne vapours, aerosols
and radiological materials. Research will especially focus on understanding
the hazards associated with their atmospheric dispersion.
This
challenging position requires:
- Sound knowledge
and understanding of the general principles of meteorology and fluid
mechanics, particularly the physical basis and mathematical description
of meteorological or atmospheric dispersion models. (An understanding
of ionising radiation or a willingness to undertake training in this
area would be desirable);
- Proven ability
in the application of high-level computer programming to the implementation
of mathematical models and data collection and analysis;
- Initiative and
sound judgement, together with the ability to work effectively as
an individual or as a team member;
- Sound communication
and interpersonal skills, including effective oral and written communication
with the scientific community;
- A degree or diploma
from an Australian tertiary institution, or a comparable overseas
qualification, or eligibility for graduate membership or, or registration
by, an appropriate professional body.
