You will apply advanced mathematical, statistical or computing techniques to solve cryptographic problems to support Australia's defence. You will also have the opportunity of participating in cooperative research programmes with overseas defence agencies.

The position requires:

• Ability to identify important research problems, formulate mathematical models of complex processes, and undertake scientific research requiring a high degree of originality, creativity and technical skill.
• Effective collaboration with colleagues and clients.
• Good communication skills.
• A PhD (or equivalent experience or qualifications) in mathematics, statistics, computer science, or a related discipline.

A good background in statistics will be an advantage.
