Geoscience Australia provides fundamental geographic information to support the mining, agricultural, transport, tourism and communications industries and also supports activities in the areas of defence, education, surveillance and emergency services. We are seeking a suitably qualified person to work in the Mapping and Maritime Boundaries Program of the National Mapping Division located in Fern Hill Park, Canberra.

The successful applicant will work as part of a team in the Mapping Research and Development Section which undertakes R&D tasks and provides IT support to the program. Work is project based and current major projects are focused on the development of a large spatial database which will be the basis of future map and data products. An associate diploma or equivalent from an Australian tertiary institution (or equivalent overseas qualification) in spatial information technology or a related field would be highly desirable.
