The
Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet advises and supports the
Prime Minister in his various responsibilities as head of government.
To discharge its role effectively the Department's goal's are to provide
policy coordination and advice to the highest standards on the full
range of policy issues that need to be considered by the Government
and to promote efficient and coordinated Government administration.
The
Social Policy Division is looking for talented and highly motivated
policy advisers and assistants to work in a small team. Successful applicants
will work in a professional environment analysing and preparing advice
on policy proposals and developments relating to income support; indigenous
policy; health and community services; veterans affairs; housing; employment;
education and training; immigration and multicultural affairs; and families,
youth and ageing.
Applicants
are expected to have strong analytical, communication and creative problem-solving
skills and the capacity to apply these skills to policy advising. An
ability to cope under pressure and meet deadlines is also essential.
Relevant tertiary qualifications and an understanding of the policy
issues relevant to the Division's work are highly desirable.
