To support our growing Commercial Group, they now require an Energy Trader to join their team.
Reporting to Energy Portfolio Manager you will be responsible for despatching and optimising fuel available to the generation assets through its gas supply agreements. You will also be responsible for assisting the Energy Trading Portfolio Manager in deriving spot trading strategies which result in decisions in generation timing and volumes.
Key elements of the role will include:
- Maximise gross margin through the strategic dispatch of Arrow’s electricity generation assets.
- Work with the Energy Portfolio Manager to optimise gross margins across the entire commodity portfolio.
- Manage the generation units’ gas position through decisions on gas usage, storage, and the requirement for spot gas sales and purchases. Determine and make daily nominations for drawdowns of gas under existing gas sales agreements.
- Keep abreast of changes to market rules and laws to ensure continual compliance. These include Trade Practices Act, Corporations Law, National Electricity Rules and National Electricity Law.
- Assist the Energy Portfolio Manager in deriving default bid price bands and volumes after consideration of portfolio gas costs and spot gas prices.
- Provide input into discussions of long and short term Spot Trading Strategies.
To be successful with your application you will ideally have the following:
- Degree in economics, finance, accounting, mathematics, engineering, or similar is essential.
- Proven experience in an energy trading or analytic role within the Australian energy market.
- Desirable Gas & electricity industry experience.
