Associate Research Fellow (2 Positions)
The University of Wollongong

School of Mathematics and Applied Statistics

Closing date: 15th February

Work in an Australian Research Council-funded research team at the forefront of international research in operator algebras and noncommutative geometry.

The Operator Algebras research group at UOW includes four senior researchers, four current ARC-funded early-career researchers and eight PhD students, and is Australia's leading research outfit in operator algebras and noncommutative topology. Its success in the latest ARC round includes funding for two post-doctoral positions, one associated to each of two Discovery Projects commencing in 2015:

  1. Equilibrium states and fine structure for operator algebras (led by Prof Aidan Sims); and
  2. Groupoids as bridges between algebra and analysis (led by Prof Aidan Sims, A/Prof David Pask, Dr Roozbeh Hazrat (UWS).

You will collaborate with the Chief Investigator(s) for the Discovery Project that funds your position, on research programs in algebra and operator algebras that contribute to the objectives of the project. You will co-author research publications detailing the results of this research, and present the results at Australian and international research conferences. You will have opportunities to contribute to UOW's vibrant teaching team in mathematics, and to co-supervise undergraduate research projects and possibly higher-degree research students.

It is expected that you will commence by the 30 June 2015. To apply for this position you must address all of the selection criteria, which are located within the position description, as part of your application.
