Position Purpose

The Professor will be an outstanding leader in Data Science to lead research growth which includes the fields of mathematics, machine learning and statistical science to improve the knowledge mined and inferred from the large amounts of data for government and industry. The Professor will have a strong record of publications (among leaders in the field) and research income generation. The Professor will also have a strong record of supervision of graduate research students, and be committed to education at all levels.

The Professor will also link with other groups in the university working in Data Science including

Group led by Professor Michael Rosemann in Information Systems, the group of Professor Axel Bruns in the Creative Industries Faculty, the group of Dr Matt Dunbabin in field robotics and environmental monitoring, the ARC Centre of Excellence in Robotic Vision led by Professor Peter Corke which is hosted at QUT, and other members of the three major research institutes at QUT. The applicant will be strongly encouraged to explore these links along with relevant external collaborations.
