Graduate Assistant (Four Positions)
Massey University

Institute of Fundamental Sciences, College of Sciences

Closing date: 2nd November 2014

The Institute of Fundamental Sciences has four Graduate Assistant positions for students wishing to study for a PhD at Massey University. One Graduate Assistant position will be appointed in each of the subject areas Mathematics, Statistics, Chemistry and Cell Biology. These are salaried teaching positions in which the appointee will be undertaking full-time PhD studies. Each appointee will be required to contribute up to 360 hours of undergraduate teaching effort in the subject area each year. The positions are for a three-year fixed term to cover the expected duration of PhD research.

A successful candidate must meet all the requirements of a suitable match in teaching duties, eligibility to undertake and maintain PhD studies at Massey University, a research area strategic for the Institute, together with an enthusiasm to undertake research in that area.

These positions would ideally suit candidates who are interested in gaining experience and formal recognition of skills in teaching at the tertiary level, while undertaking research at a PhD level.

While these positions are advertised as closing on 2 November 2014 we envisage regularly reviewing applications and making a succession of appointments. Candidates should expect to receive a response within four weeks of applying.
