Exciting opportunity exists for a Lecturer or Senior Lecturer in Statistics to conduct high quality research and teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. This is a continuing (i.e., tenure-track) position.

The School of Mathematics and Physics

The Statistics Group in the School of Mathematics and Physics is one of the leading providers of tertiary statistical education in Australia. Its statisticians and probabilists are recognised internationally for their active and dynamic research programs across a wide range of areas in statistics and probability, including: applied probability and stochastic processes; applied statistics; biostatistics; computational statistics; and multivariate analysis.

We are seeking an outstanding statistician who will join our School to expand our activities in applied statistics, biostatistics, computational statistics and/or multivariate analysis.

The role

The successful appointee will be expected to take an active role in the research efforts of the School.  This includes frequent publication in high quality journals, participation in and organising of conferences, international and interdisciplinary collaboration, and attracting competitive research funding.  The appointee will be expected to teach from a selection of undergraduate and postgraduate statistics courses, ranging from large first year courses to specialised graduate courses.  Other teaching duties include postgraduate supervision and curriculum development.  The selected candidate will be expected to raise further the University's strong international profile in statistics, and to attract postgraduate students and postdoctoral researchers to the University

The person

Applicants must have a strong international research record, relative to opportunity, in one or more of applied statistics, biostatistics, computational statistics and multivariate analysis.  Further, they must have a genuine commitment to statistics teaching and curriculum development, and be an advocate of statistics within the University and in the broader community. 

Remuneration

This is a full-time continuing appointment at Academic Level B (Lecturer) or C (Senior Lecturer) depending on qualifications and experience.

The remuneration package for Academic Level B will be in the range $81,857 - $97,205 p.a., plus employer superannuation contributions of up to 17% (total package will be in the range $95,773 - $113,730 p.a.).

The remuneration package for Academic  Level C will be in the range $100,275 to $115,623 p.a., plus employer superannuation contributions of up to 17% (total package will be in the range $117,322 - $135,279 p.a).
