Situated in the College of Science, Engineering and Health, the School of Mathematical and Geospatial Sciences draws together disciplines involving the collection of data, the analysis of data, data security, and the understanding and optimisation of systems through modelling and visualisation.

The School has more than 60 academic staff and over 70 postgraduate research students. RMIT is a founding member of the Australian Mathematical Sciences Institute. Many staff members are active in the Spatial Sciences Institute, the Australian Mathematical Society, and the Institution of Surveyors Australia. RMIT is also a founding member of the Australian Mathematical Sciences Institute.

The successful candidate will have special responsibility for the delivery, maintenance and expansion of Work-Integrated Learning (WIL) projects and Industry Based Learning (IBL) placements. This responsibility will take approximately 40% of your workload. Working in collaboration with the School’s professional staff, you will liaise with industry partners to ensure the sufficient availability of projects or placements to meet the needs of students in the mathematical sciences.

Reporting to the Head of Discipline, you will be an active researcher. This will include undertaking and publishing high quality research, supervising research students, and applying for research grants. This responsibility takes approximately 40% of your workload. The remaining portion of the workload will involve teaching duties.

We are seeking an outstanding individual with a strong background in the mathematical sciences. Preference will be given to applicants who can contribute to teaching and research in the in the area of Information Security, but other areas of expertise that will be considered favourably include analytics, applied optimization, and mathematical modelling in industry. It is mandatory you have a relevant PhD.
