The School of Mathematics and Statistics is one of the largest in Australia with research strengths in many areas of mathematics and statistics. The School attracts a strong body of excellent students as well as Australian Research Council grants, fellowships, and other competitive external funding
The current areas of research in statistics and probability within the School are asymptotic approximations and limit theorems, bioinformatics, applied probability, time series, extreme value theory, generalised linear mixed models, robust methods, variational approximations and computer intensive methods.
Applications are invited for a Lecturer in Statistics in the School of Mathematics and Statistics. You will engage in research and scholarly activities in mathematical statistics, as well as teach a range of courses and play an active role in the administration of the School.
Key requirements for this position are: a PhD (or equivalent qualification); demonstrated evidence of research ability and potential in an area of statistics, probability or stochastic processes; evidence of ability, versatility and commitment to excellence in undergraduate teaching; excellent written and verbal communication skills; and the ability to work cooperatively with others.

The position is full time, fixed term for 2.5 years, subject to the completion of a satisfactory probation period for new appointees. Membership of a University approved superannuation scheme is a condition of employment for new appointees.
Remuneration package: $104K-$124K p.a. (which includes a base salary, leave loading and up to 17% employer’s contribution to superannuation).
Some assistance towards travelling cost and visa sponsorship may be available for the successful appointees if required and level of appointment will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
