The discipline of Mathematics is located within the School of Mathematics and Physics in the Faculty of Science at the University of Queensland. It is the leading provider of mathematics education in Queensland, and is internationally recognised for its research excellence.
The role
The successful appointee will carry out high level research on an Australian Research Council funded project led by Dr Barbara Maenhaut (The University of Queensland). The person
Applicants should possess at least a research Masters degree, and preferably a PhD, in mathematics or computing, and have the necessary skills and background to carry out original research in applied discrete mathematics. The successful appointee will work in collaboration with Dr Barbara Maenhaut and staff at Jeppesen Rail Logistics and Terminals to identify particular configurations in existing public transportation networks that cause difficulties for existing models and algorithms, and then develop tools to create virtual networks that contain specified configurations.
