The Statistics Group in the School of Mathematics and Physics is one of the leading providers of statistical education in Australia. Its statisticians and probabilists are recognised internationally for their active and dynamic research programs across a wide range of areas in statistics and probability, including applied probability and stochastic processes, bioinformatics, biometrics, biostatistics, environmental statistics, modern computational statistics, parametric/nonparametric inferential methods, and statistical machine learning.
We are seeking two motivated statisticians who are interested in joining our School to expand our activities in applied statistics, biostatistics, and/or computational statistics.
The role
The successful appointees will be expected to take an active role in the research efforts of the School. This includes frequent publication in high quality journals, participation in and organizing of conferences, international and interdisciplinary collaboration, and attracting competitive research funding. The appointees will be expected to teach from a selection of undergraduate and postgraduate statistics courses, ranging from large first year courses to specialised graduate courses. Other teaching duties include postgraduate supervision and curriculum development. The selected candidates will be expected to raise further the University's strong international profile in statistics, and to attract postgraduate students and postdoctoral researchers to the University
The person
Applicants should have an excellent background in applied statistics, biostatistics, or computational statistics. The applicants must have a strong international research record, relative to opportunity. Also, they must have a genuine commitment to statistics teaching and curriculum development, and be an advocate of statistics within the University and in the broader community.
Remuneration
This is a full time, fixed-term appointment for 3 years at Academic Level B (2 positions available). The remuneration package will be in the range $81,857 - $97,205 p.a. plus employer superannuation contributions of up to 17% (total package will be in the range $95,773 - $113,730 p.a.).
