Discipline of Mathematics
Closing date: 6 July 2007The Discipline of Mathematics is located in the School of Physical Sciences. It is the leading provider of mathematical education in Queensland and is recognised internationally for its active and dynamic research programs across a number of areas of mathematics. Academic staff have a number of established, on-going collaborations with other disciplines, particularly in engineering, information technology and the physical and biological sciences, as well as with industry and government bodies.
The Role: The successful appointee will be expected to provide leadership in research and teaching in Pure Mathematics, and to be a strong advocate within the University and in the broader academic, business, industrial, and political community. He or she will be expected to further raise the University's strong international profile in Pure Mathematics, and to attract postgraduate students and postdoctoral researchers to the University.
The Person: Candidates from all areas of Pure Mathematics are encouraged to apply. The appointee will be required to have an outstanding international research profile in Pure Mathematics, including a proven record of attracting competitive funding. Applicants will need to demonstrate how their research program will support and enhance the School's current research strengths in mathematics. Demonstrated potential for research collaboration with other disciplines is highly desirable. Applicants need to have a proven record of teaching excellence, with experience in teaching and developing curricula for a broad range of courses.
Remuneration: This is a continuing, full-time appointment at Academic Level E. The remuneration package will be $147,277 per annum including employer superannuation contributions of 17%.
