Post-Doctoral Research Fellow (Cancer Modelling) - Level A - 24 month Contract
Cancer Council NSW

Closing date: 28th September 2016

Celebrating over 60 years, Cancer Council NSW is a community funded, community focused not for profit. Cancer Council NSW (CCNSW) is the largest cancer charity in NSW and its point of difference is that it works across all stages of the cancer journey from research right through to support.

With an increasing number of grant approvals, and collaborations both nationally and internationally, we now have the need for a new Post-Doctoral Research Fellow to join the team as part of a highly competitive NHMRC grant.

Based in the Woolloomooloo office, you will be part of a group that has developed detailed novel models of screening for several different cancers which can be used to evaluate various prevention strategies in different settings. The group emphasises an epidemiological and mathematical approach to modelling and has developed strong local and international collaborations in the settings in which they work. These models have been used to inform policy in Australia, New Zealand, England and the United States, and the group has produced a range of high impact publications.

You will focus on modelling a range of cervical cancer prevention strategies in China. This will involve updating an existing model of cervical cancer to incorporate these prevention strategies, collaborating with epidemiological and clinical experts in cervical cancer prevention, and reporting on these results to journal and policy makers. The research findings will inform the process of policy prioritisation to support the efficient and effective use of cancer control programs in the prevention, early detection and treatment of cancer at a population level.

In summary? It's using modelling to help develop optimal cancer prevention strategies for cervical cancer in China!
