Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for a fixed-term Postdoctoral Fellowship in Pure Mathematics in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics, tenable for two and a half years. The position is supported by a grant from the Marsden Fund of the Royal Society of New Zealand. The Fellow will work with Iain Raeburn, Astrid an Huef and Lisa Orloff Clark on a project involving the operator-algebraic dynamical systems associated to directed graphs and their generalisations, the equilibrium states of such systems, and algebraic analogues of these algebras.

Candidates should have a strong background in functional analysis, with particular expertise in operator algebra or a related area of algebra. They will have good interpersonal skills, and be capable of working on an extended project as a member of a lively and friendly research team. They should have good technical skills, they should write clearly and accurately, and they should have a track record of bringing projects to completion. They should have an aptitude for, and preferably experience in, teaching at the university level.
