The Australian Mathematical Society Lecture Series aims to publish work at the frontiers of mathematics and its applications in teaching and research. The Series contains both research monographs and textbooks suitable for graduate and undergraduate students. Books that celebrate the achievements and approaches of Australasian mathematicians and appeal to the Australasian market are particularly welcome. The Series is professionally published and marketed by Cambridge University Press. Recent titles include:\\ Modelling with Differential and Difference Equations \\ by G. Fulford, P. Forrester and A. Jones (1997) -a broad spectrum of applications illustrating techniques for setting up mathematical models and analysing the behaviour of systems of differential and difference equations.\\ Geometric Analysis and Lie theory in Mathematics and Physics \\ by Alan Carey and Michael Murray (1998) -a selection of lectures from a graduate workshop dealing with quantum groups, lattice models, symplectic geometry and von Neumann algebras.\\ Foundations of Convex Geometry \\ by Andrew Coppel (1998) -the foundations of Euclidean geometry from a modern viewpoint starting from minimal axioms and leading to research topics in combinatorial convexity and projective geometry. Enquiries and manuscripts are welcome. Prospective authors are invited to submit proposals setting out \begin{itemize}
